The Story
Maraasim began with a simple belief: that Urdu poetry — its weight, its ache, its precision — deserves to be worn, not just read.
Each shawl carries a verse in full. Not a line lifted for decoration, not a fragment trimmed to fit a border — the whole poem, printed as its poet intended, on handloom cloth made in Pakistan.
We work with weavers and printers who've spent years on this craft, pairing their work with poets who've spent lifetimes on theirs. Faiz opens our first collection. Others — Ghalib, Iqbal, and poets still writing today — will follow.
Maraasim means bond, or relation. It's the word for what connects one thing to another — a poet to a reader, a weaver to their loom, a person to the words they choose to carry with them.
